Carve A Pumpkin

What would Halloween be, without sitting on the door step on Halloween night and carving a few pumpkins - whether alone or with friends and family. Below you can carve a pumpkin "virtually", right here in your Web browser, but before you start, here are a few pointers on how to carve a pumpkin:

  • You will need a large spoon or ice-cream scoop, a thin bladed knife and some newspaper to get started.
  • Use the knife to cut out the top of the pumpkin (around the stem). The hole should be large enough to allow you to scoop out the guts (seeds and stringy membrane) with the spoon or scoop.
  • As you cut out the top, angle the knife so that the lid and hole will be somewhat cone shaped. This will help prevent the lid from falling into the hole.
  • Visualize then use a marker or crayon to outline the eyes, nose and mouth that you will be cutting next
  • Use the knife to carefully cut along the pre-marked lines, then presto!

Ok, so go ahead now and virtually carve a pumpkin below!
